A Glimpse into Computer Technology Training

by: David R. Wetzel

Computer technology schools offer a range of degrees and programs. Schools that teach computer technology include technical schools, colleges and universities. Degrees in computer technology are offered at three levels for beginning students; bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree and specialized computer certifications.

Technical schools offer computer technology degree programs year round, while colleges and universities offer summer courses for earning a degree quicker or part-time programs for busy students.

Typical programs offered by computer technology schools such as ITT Technical Institute include information security systems, data communication systems management, computer science, software engineering, web development, networking and software applications. Degrees from other schools of computer technology include computer gaming design, interactive media develop, web development, and systems administrator.

Computer technology schools offer courses focused on the architectures of operating systems, network systems, user interface construction, C + + language, data bases types and formats, programming standards, etc. These courses are designed for those who wish to earn degrees in computer software and computer information systems. Courses focused on web design and development includes Internet hierarchy, authoring tools, scripting designs and more.

Bachelor’s degree computer technology upper-division courses focus on data storage advanced warehousing techniques, management of technology projects, multiple computer programming languages, graphical interface design, software development methods and more. The advantage of a bachelor’s degree in computer technology is a wider selection of employment opportunities.

Computer degrees lead to earning certifications in computer technology. Many courses in computer programs prepare students to pass tests for computer technology certifications. According to About.com’s article Computer Certification’s Top 10 Certifications for 2009, the top two certifications are Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert and Certified Information Systems Auditor. Their pass rates are low; however, average annual salaries are high.

Someone considering a computer technology education needs to first determine the type of degree they want to pursue. This decision helps narrow the search for a computer technology school. Computer technology bachelor’s degree can be completed in four years, associate’s degree programs can be completed in two years and certification programs range from few months to a year.

Science and Technology in National Development

There is no doubt that science and technology, has led to the development of our great country and indeed the whole world. In order to understand the contribution of science to national development,I will like to define science and technology.

What is science? Science is the study of knowledge which can be made into a system and ussually depends on seeing and testing facts and stating general laws.Technology on the other hand is the pratical application of scientific knowledge or inventitions to the solving of everyday problems or facilitating tedious human activities.

The product of science and technology has contributed to the development of countries such as,america, japan, china and to an extent in some african countries.

Through this application, scientific knowledgable proffessionals, have been able to invent equipments and machines being used in industries and even in our homes, in addition to this science and technology has helped in easing stress, brought by the movement of goods and people from one place to another,by inventing easy transportational equipments like automobiles, aircrafts and so on.

Furthermore, science and technology has helped in the area of medicine. Some natural herbs converted to drugs with the aid of morden equipment and these drug are used in our hospitals and pharmacies.

Moreover, rural communities are transformed to urban settelements through science and technology. This is made possible through the availlability of electricty, pipeborne water, good road, schools, hospitals and other social amenities.which makes these places developed,by an increased population.

Equally important is the fact that science and technology has helped in  making work more eaiser for people to do through the invention of computers and household machinaries, it has also made communication faster, through the use of mobile phones, televisions, radio, uesd in communication.

Science and technology has aided so many sectors of the economy such as the advertising sector, sports and fitness (weight loss), transportation, and so on.

In conclusion, science and technology, has played an impotant and vital role, inthe development of this great nation and the wide-world.

Purdue University

University Founders

President Lincoln signed the Morrill Land Grant Act in 1862. Stating the federal government of the United States would grant land to any state prepared use any proceeds from the sale of that land to be used for maintaining a teaching establishment for the ‘mechanic arts’ and agriculture. Three years later decided to take steps to create a teaching college in the state of Indiana. Today, this college, now Purdue University, is one of the biggest university systems throughout the US. Ranked high amongst all Americas top institutions. Founded using a hundred acres of donated land, fifty thousand dollars from the county of Tippecanoe, and a hundred and fifty dollars generously donate by a gentleman called John Purdue. Hence, Perdue University!

Campus

Today, the university has six campuses and offers majors in many diverse areas. More than two hundred undergraduate and graduate programs are available. Famous for it’s College of Engineering, which offers some of the best aviation and aerospace programs in the world. Boasting a world class flight school and are forerunners in aerospace development and research. Their aeronautics graduates are ranked as top new recruits within the defence industry. They were the first to offer a bachelors degree in aviation, and the first university to have it’s own airport.

Research and Discovery

Purdue Research Park and the Discovery Park encompass the university grounds. The site stretches out for miles, covering over seven hundred acres, just a few miles north of Purdue University’s west campus. Around a hundred and fifty biological, nanotech, medical companies, and laboratories make this the biggest technology park in the state of Indiana. More than fifty buildings make up the park today. Founded over forty years ago, it has become one of the biggest university affiliated technology parks, throughout the American states.

Moniker and Mascots

The official nickname for the Perdue University Athletes is the ‘Boilermakers’. Although the shortened version, ‘Boilers’, it’s often used when referring to any student of Perdue. First used in 1891 by a local reporter, in reference the university’s winning football team. It was fast adopted by the students, and has continued to be used when referring to just about all things related to Perdue. Since nineteen forty, their official mascot, come emblem, has been the ‘Boilermaker Special. A replica locomotive originally adopted to highlight Perdue’s success in the field of engineering. Especially with regards to railway technology. ‘Perdue Pete’ is an unofficial mascot, infamous both on and off the university campus. The latest addition to the Purdue University mascot family is Rowdy. A three metre high blow up boy!

Achievements

During the mid twentieth century, the university’s aviation program began to incorporate advanced spaceflight technology. Today, these programs have earned Purdue the nickname ‘Cradle of Astronauts’. More than twenty NASA astronauts have come from Perdue. Including Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moons surface, and Eugene Cernan, the last man. Usually, a third of any NASA crew, selected for a manned mission, will be a graduate of Purdue. Many famous people have been associated with the university. The faculty has even won the Noble Prize.
